At the Percy Norman Swim Club, two leadership opportunities we provide for our members are the Assistant Coaching Program and the Junior Leader Program.

The Junior Leader Program involves senior swimmers working with coaches in assisting younger swimmers at practices. Although priority in the program will be given to returning Junior Leaders, a limited number of positions will be available for new applicants.

To apply as a Junior Leader, swimmers must meet the following criteria:

• Be in the Blue Group. There are NO exceptions.
• Be 13 years of age by the end of the application year.
• Have to be with our club for two consecutive seasons (both Fall and Spring seasons) in the year prior to application (at least one of the seasons must fall in the year prior) – attendance records will be used to verify applicant was swimming during this time and the Head Coach and JL-Coordinator will decide if this requirement has been sufficiently met.
• Must be a current swimmer who regularly swims with PNSC at least twice a week.
• Must have their own personal e-mail address by which correspondence with the JL-Coordinator will be made.
• Be prepared to enter the water, and to demonstrate swimming at a reasonable level.
• Be willing to support the club by participating in club events.

If accepted into the program, all Junior Leaders need to attend a training session.

Attention All Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Junior Leaders
who will coach September 2023 – June 2024

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

The Executive of Percy Norman Swim Club realizes the vital role you play in the success of each swimmer in the club and would like to reward you by subsidizing the cost of qualifying courses (eg. AWSI, WSI, NCCP).

To qualify you must meet the following criteria:

• Pre-apply for approval.

• You’re a Coach, Assistant Coach, or Junior Leader at Percy Norman Swim Club September 2023 to June 2024.

• Will be a Coach or Assistant Coach at Percy Norman Swim Club September 2023 to June 2024.

• Courses must be taken any time between May 1st, 2023 and June 30th, 2024.

• Pass the course.

Qualified applicants will be reimbursed up to a maximum of 25% of the course fee on June 30th, 2024 so please hold onto your receipt. Applicants must complete a short summary of what they learned during the course.
